Library News:

TOP YAC READERS
The Young Adults' Choices Reading Program has been wildly successful at OOBHS. The reviews have been counted and the final numbers are in. As a school, the students read a total of 814 books! 147 students participated in this program. I am pleased at the number of books read and the number of students who have stayed with the program since September. I look forward to promoting this program again next fall. Look for new YAC books to arrive in September. Congrats to all the top readers and to everyone who participated.

Our Old Orchard Beach High School International Club has just returned from a wonderful European adventure!  A group of students, teachers, and members of the community toured Europe's Mediterranean coast.  We began in Italy, where students visited the posh city of Milan and the enchanting cliff-side towns that form Cinque Terre.  In France, students strolled down Nice's palm-lined main street, taking in the sights of the French Riviera.  We toured the small, immaculate sea-side principality of Monaco. And finally, in Spain, students explored Barcelona's architectural marvels.

Our students represented Old Orchard Beach and the United States with grace.  They were perfectly behaved and always eager to learn and explore.  They could always be found at the front of our tour group, listening carefully to our guide.  They were expert travelers, even though for most it was their first time outside of our country.  They were immersed in the landscapes, the language, and the culture of these charming Mediterranean destinations.  Our students have returned with a wider, richer world-view as well as with a greater appreciation for the advantages of life in the United States.

Students involved in this year's trip: Nate Gordon, Cole Hamilton, Sam Jenkins, Haley Kaliher, Miranda Lessard, Adam Nye, Emily Pinette, Ben Pinette, Mikey Rague,  Dylan Rhoda, and Amanda Townsend.
