The Sand Paper is a school-wide writing magazine at Loranger Middle School. It is comprised of poetry, science, sports, current events, columns based on local and school events, as well as fiction and non-fiction stories. All published works are from students in fourth through eighth grade.

Peter Barricelli is the teacher in charge of compiling and editing the students’ work as part of the GATES Program at Loranger Middle School. The GATES program for advanced language arts/reading students focuses on the production of the magazine, although over two thirds of the contributors are non GATES students.
