Andy Pepin Awarded "Custodian of the Year"
Andy Pepin, senior custodian at C.K. Burns School, was honored as this year's "Custodian of the Year" by the National Plant Maintenance Association of Maine.
Andy, a native of Maine, began working for Regional School Unit #23 in 1986. He started when the School District was named School Union #7, prior to consolidation with Old Orchard Beach, renaming the district Regional School Unit #23. "I love working with the Little People," Andy says with a laugh. “When I began working here I worked 2nd shift keeping another full-time job for the 1st year.” Andy said that after the 1st year he “enjoyed working with the kids” so much that he quit his other job to be available for additional hours at the school.
Andy’s duties range from cleaning the school building to unloading trucks. I take pride in my work and I feel appreciated getting this award," Andy says.
